Logistiek en opslag
Kijkend naar de huidige situatie op het gebied van logistiek en opslag in Koeweit, blijkt dat het land kampt met een tekort aan opslagfaciliteiten en de bijbehorende softwareprogramma’s en apparatuur. Dit blijkt uit interviews met toonaangevende spelers in de logistieke sector. Daarnaast bestaat er een grote vraag naar innovatieve logistieke oplossingen als RFID systemen, tracking-, material handling- en warehouse managementsystemen.

De NBCC heeft een aantal gesprekken gevoerd waar dit uit bleek. De bevindingen zijn die van Agility, de grootste logistieke dienstverlener, GAC Expeditors en Atkins Global in Koeweit.

“The biggest problem facing the sector is that any new company in Kuwait, be it a retailer or manufacturer, finds it extremely hard to find experienced staff for their logistical operations such as logistics managers or warehousing managers. Top management positions are in demand. The other issue is a big shortage of storage space. In terms of Dutch companies I would like to see them bringing the newest technologies in terms of freight such as RFID (Radio Frequency Identification Systems), tracking systems and freight forwarding systems. In terms of warehousing, solutions like fully automated warehouse management systems are always in need.” Bron: Agility Logistics

“All of Kuwait infrastructure needs redevelopment; the country has been growing without matching infrastructure projects, new roads and highways need to be built, new sewage networks need to be set up etc. so modernisation is needed in all sectors.” Bron: Atkins Global
